Project

The project will improve degraded land and contribute to establishing a vital ecological corridor between the mountainous region to the north of the project site and the Kapshagay reservoir. This corridor will enhance biodiversity by providing essential cover for wildlife, allowing fauna to migrate between the mountains and the reservoir. Additionally, it will promote seed dispersal and nutrient cycling for local flora.

The project will be certified using the VCS ARR methodology (VM0047). This methodology was released on 28th September 2023 and is the first methodology in the voluntary carbon market that uses dynamic performance benchmarking and remote sensing for establishing the project baseline and for testing additionality.

Nursery

The project is developing a forest nursery. This entity will produce planting material for the project’s afforestation activity but will also be used as a commercial nursery to provide seedlings to the government and other private forestry companies. Production capacity of the commercial nursery is expected to reach 5 million seedlings per year.

ER Accounting

The project will use an area-based approach for the quantification of the removals arising from the project. This approach will calculate carbon stock change in all the carbon pools. The project is expected to generate 1,100,561 VCUs over 30 years.
